So recall also that a number is placed before every substituent to specify where that substituent is on the parent chain. And I'm using dashes or hyphens to separate numbers from letters. So here our last step is to go ahead and combine the information from steps one and two together into a complete Iupac name with no spaces in between. Recall that substituents are listed in alphabetical order before the actual parent name. So because the E in Ethel goes before the M in metal, that is the one I'm going to write first. So that's three dash fo dash four dash methyl, followed by the parent name with no space in between. So that's pin up again. Notice how I'm separating hyphens or using hyphens to separate numbers from letters.
