All right. Hi everyone. So this question says that the structure of frein is shown below name all of the functional groups present in the molecule. Option A says ester amide amine aromatic ring cul hide. Option B says Ether amine aromatic ring al Halide. Option C says Esther amide aromatic ring aero hide and option D says ether amide amine aromatic ring aero halite. So when considering the structure of a given molecule to find any relevant functional groups, recall that the main priority is to look for portions of the molecule that contain other atoms aside from carbon hydrogen single bonds. So the first one I can see is all the way to the left side in which there is an oxygen atom in between two carbons. And theres a similar structure towards the center of the molecule as well, particularly connecting different ring structures, they're attached to our ring structures. So we will identify them in a second. But for now, I want to just prioritize identifying what I can find right. So I've identified one functional group in blue and on the very left side of the molecule, there is another functional group with nitrogen because notice how there is a nitrogen in between carbon atoms. And I do not see any structures like it in the rest of the compound. However, I do have these fluorine atoms attached to rings towards the right side. So I'm going to box them both in purple. Now, in addition to this right, the rings themselves that we discussed previously are also noteworthy because they don't contain simply carbon carbon single bonds. So that's another functional group and we actually have one more, we have one more because there is one portion of the compound that contains carbon oxygen, double bonds adjacent to a nitrogen atom. So first, we can go ahead and start off with the functional group highlighted in blue. Notice how as we discussed previously, we have one oxygen atom in between two carbon atoms otherwise abbreviated as two R groups. Now this motif, if you recall is characteristic of an epic in which R is either an Ole or an arrow group. So that's our first functional group. We do have an ether in this compound highlighted or box in blue. Now, in red, we have these car bundles or these carbons double bonded to oxygens adjacent to and nitrogen. And so that nitrogen is connected to, to other R groups as well because recall that an R group can either be hydrogen, an AY or an aero group. And then on the other side of the car bal is another ar and both structures have the same general formula. Now, a carbo adjacent to a nitrogen is characteristic of an amide. And aides often get confused with the functional group that I've highlighted in orange towards the left side of the compound, right? Because notice how here we have one nitrogen atom and that nitrogen atom happens to be connected to three different carbon atoms or three R groups. However, recall that this functional group can also be a nitrogen attached to three hydrogens or some combination of hydrogen and our groups because this functional group here in orange is an a meme. So notice how the name is very similar, right? A mean versus a mi. So now if we focus our attention on the rings, I've boxed in green here, notice how we have a six carbon ring with double wands inside of it. Now recall that these rings are characteristic of oops wrong color, but they are characteristic of benzine, right. These happen to be benzene rings otherwise referred to as aromatic rings. And so to finish off our discussion here, we have two atoms of fluorine attached to an aromatic ring. Now recall that in the generic formula of a given functional group, X refers to any halogen such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine. Now X is connected to an art group, but the R group is specifically an aromatic ring or an arrow group. So because of that, this is going to be an aerial hay light because if R happened to be an O group, then it would be an O ha light. And there you have, our final answer is going to be option D in the multiple choice because our functional groups are ether amide amine aromatic ring aero halite.
