Hello and welcome. Our next question says which of the following microorganisms are not effectively killed by quaternary ammonium compounds. A gram positive bacteria. B mycobacteria C enveloped viruses or D amoebas. So let's recall that c ionic detergents, particularly the quaternary ammonium compounds are very effective, strongly bactericidal against gram positive bacteria. There are also fungicidal amoebic cidal and virucidal even against developed viruses. But there are two classifications of micro organisms that they are not effective against and that is mycobacteria and endospore. So we see choice B is mycobacteria, we'll put also end of force and their mechanism is not fully understood, but it probably has to do with the fact that they, the micro mycobacteria have this waxy coating on the outside. They're not gram negative bacteria, which also these are not very effective against, but they do have that waxy outer coating over their outer lipid layer. And that's probably why this is not effective. One of the strains of mycobacteria is the organism that causes tuberculosis. So, detergents often indicate specifically whether they're tuberculoid, so effective against micros spores, but Quain ammonium compounds would not be. So when we look at our other answer choices, we see that all three of them choice, a gram positive bacteria, choice c enveloped viruses and choice D amoebas are specifically microorganisms that quad ium compounds are effective against.
