Welcome back. I am so glad you're here. We are given this expression eight y minus three times one plus y minus three. Y minus two times one Plus why? And we are asked to factor this expression. Alright well how do we do that? Well we recall from previous lessons that we are going to look at each of these two things being subtracted here and we're going to ask ourselves are there any factors, are there any units that are being multiplied? That occur in both of these two sections? And here what's occurring in both of them? A unit that's being multiplied, is this one plus Y in parentheses? Because that is a factor in both sets, we can pull out that one plus why? And then that is being multiplied by what one plus Y is being multiplied by both eight y minus three And this - Y -2. And now we can simplify what's in the brackets over here, we can distribute this negative in front of our three y minus two. So that will get distributed to both of those terms and will have in the bracket eight y minus three minus three Y plus two because negative times negative and we keep that one plus Y. Which is factored out in front. And now inside the brackets we can combine like terms, so r eight y minus r three, Y will give us five Y and our negative three plus two will give us minus one and that's still times one plus why? Well this is factored now we have to two sets of parentheses is being multiplied by each other. So we look at our answer choices and this matches with answer choice C.
