Hello. Today we're going to be subtracting the two given fractions. So what we are given is 17/24 minus 1/6. Now, before we subtract fractions together, we always want to make sure that the denominators are of the same value. Here we have the denominator 24 we have the denominator six. So we're going to need to find the lowest common denominator. So that way we can end up with 22 fractions with the same denominator. Well here six and 24 have the common multiple of 24. So the lowest common denominator is going to be 24. Now on the left hand side fraction, we don't have to multiply this fraction by anything since we already have 24 in its denominator. But on the right hand side we can multiply six by four because six times four gives us 24. And since we're multiplying the denominator by four, we must also multiply the numerator by four. So we're gonna be multiplying 1/6 by 4/4 and doing this is going to give us 17/24 minus 4/24. Now that we have the same denominators in both fractions, we can go ahead and perform the subtraction. So subtracting these fractions together is going to give us -4/24 and 17 -4 is going to give us the value of 13/24. Now, just to make we need to check to make sure that this is the simplest form of the answer. And in order to check that we need to ask ourselves, is there a common factor between 13 and 24 that we can divide these values by in order to reduce the fraction, while 13 and 24 don't have any common multiples in between them. So that means that 13/24 is going to be the simplest form of the answer, and with that being said, the answer to this problem is going to be C.
