And so with this context in mind, let's go ahead and start by evaluating option A which says that complete proteins provide energy while incomplete proteins are only involved in muscle repair. Now, this statement is not going to be correct because energy and muscle repair are both functions associated with proteins as a whole. The difference between complete and incomplete proteins lies in its or rather their structural elements, right? How many essential amino acids they contain? Not so much their function, both complete and incomplete proteins are involved in energy or energy production, I should say and muscle repair. So A is not correct moving on to option B which says that complete proteins contain all essential amino acids whereas incomplete proteins lack some essential amino acids. B is correct. B is correct because it's essentially resummarizing what we talked about before looking at the answer options, right. The difference between complete and incomplete proteins is whether or not they contain all essential amino acids or not. So B is correct, but for the sake of completeness, let's talk about C and D as well. Starting with C which says that complete proteins are high in both essential and non essential amino acids. While incomplete proteins only contain non-essential amino acids. This is not necessarily true, right? Because recall that proteins are complex structures, which means that there's a lot of variety in terms of their amino acid sequence. All this is to say that both complete and incomplete proteins contain essential and non essential amino acids. So, c is not correct, which leads us now to D which says that complete proteins are derived only from animal sources while incomplete proteins are found exclusively in plant sources. Now, this statement is not true either, right? Because as mentioned before, essential amino acids are ones that have to be taken in through the foods that we eat. Plant and animal sources are excellent ways to gain both complete and incomplete proteins. So D is not true either.
