Now I need to simplify both sides of the equation and what I can go ahead and do is distribute X into the quantity X plus 36 distribute seven into the quantity six X plus one. Doing so is going to give me X squared plus 36 X is equal to 42 X plus seven. Now since we are solving for X we want to go ahead and set this equation equal to zero. What I can go ahead and do is subtract 42 X to both sides of the equation and subtract seven to both sides of the equation. And that's going to give me x squared minus six.
