We now have A Y minus three. Y is equal to 15. Now just combining our like terms, subtracting our Y terms, we have five, Y is equal to 15. Now just solving for Y, we need to divide both sides of the equation by five and we find that Y is equal to three. And so now we can just substitute in this value for Y into our second equation. So instead of X is equal to eight Y, we now have X is equal to eight times the value of Y, which is three. So we have eight times three. Now simplifying the product we get X is equal to 24.
