Hello everyone. In this video, we're gonna be looking at this practice problem where we want to solve and express negative absolute value of negative 1 57 as a real number. So in this case, because we're working with an absolute value, it's important to remember the absolute value rule where it states that if we have a number inside the absolute value such as negative A, this is equal to positive A once we get rid of the absolute value bars, notice how the negative that was associated with the variable A went away. This is because the absolute value turns any number inside of it positive or greater than zero. So we can apply this same rule to our number where we have negative absolute value of negative 157. So if we take away the absolute value bars, this becomes positive 157. And notice how even though we were able to take away the negative that was found inside of the absolute value bars, we still have this negative on the outside of the bars. So it still ends up being negative 157 because the absolute value bars only affect what's inside of it. So because this negative is not inside of the absolute value bars, it still needs to be accounted for. So it turns the 157 negative once again. And this becomes our final answer for when we solve the expression negative absolute value of negative 1 57. And you can see that, that aligns with answer choice B.
