Hello everyone. Let's go through this practice problem. Consider a real life situation that fits the velocity and acceleration vectors shown in the figure below represent the situation using pictorial representation. We aren't given any multiple choice options, but we do have a diagram showing the motion of a car and a bicycle. We can see that the vector paths for both the car and the bicycle have different points separating between them. The distance these points represent snapshots of the motion that are taken at different time intervals. So for the sake of argument, let's say that the time interval for this problem is one second, that means the bottom two points represent how far the car is managed to travel in one second. And if this pattern continues, then we can see at the top of the diagram that later on the car manages to travel much farther during that same time interval. Since the diagram includes information about both a car and a bicycle, we can assume that the time intervals are the same for both vehicles. We can also see from the diagram that both the car and the bicycle seem to stop moving or at least were no longer given information past this dotted finish line. And we can also see that the bicycle seems to start off closer to the finish line than the car. The problem is asking us somewhat open endedly to draw a pictorial representation of these two velocity vectors. Again, it's kind of open ended. But the basic idea is we just want to draw an image of what's happening with the car and the bicycle. I'm going to start by drawing the ground. So this line represents the floor and this will be a side view. So at some point, we'll see the side view of the car. I'm actually going to draw the car slightly elevated so that it'll be easy to show the difference between the car and the bike. I'll say that the finish line is about here at this point and the car's starting position, I'm gonna represent the variables for the car's initial values. So let's say the car's initial position is X sub C not so its initial position, its initial velocity, I'll say is V sub C not and the time interval were initially as the point in time is initially T knot. And I'm not going to add ac to the subscript of the time because we're going to assume that the car and the bike both start at the same time interval at the same time period. So the time variables aren't going to be vehicle specific. And according to the diagram, the car is accelerating toward the finish line with some uh acceleration vector. A sub C now a little bit ahead of the car is where the bicycle is going to start. I'm going to draw the bicycle a little lower but the bike is going to have a similar initial variables. I'll say its initial position is X sub B, its initial velocity or X sub B knot. Its initial velocity is V sub B knot and its initial time that it's starting at the same time T sub knot. And it is also accelerating towards the finish line with an acceleration vector. A sub B or B for bike. One thing that we can see from the diagram is that the car is accelerating faster than the bike. This is clear from the fact of that, even though the car and the bike are starting at two different points, they both reach the same finish line with the same number of dotted lines in between them. So that means that in our final position, it's fair to draw both the bike and the car basically right on top of each other to indicate that at the same final time point, they both reached the same spot on the axis. So now I'm going to represent the final variables for both vehicles. So starting with the car, I'll say the final position is X sub one instead of X knot. And I'm not going to add the car subscript because since the car and the bike are both at the same spot, now there's no need to be a vehicle specific with it. So the car has had, the car has the final position X one, the final velocity, the sub C one that could still be different from the bike for all we know. And the final point in time is just T one. Again, the time is not vehicle specific for the bike. That's X one for its final position, V sub B one for its final velocity and T sub one for its final position. And that right now is a pretty good pictorial representation of the problem. The problem statement isn't asking us to do anything else really specific and, and this describes the situation pretty well in a visual sense. So I think that is it for this problem.
